Scarsdale Congregational Church Abdoulie, Our Sponsor Child Our Community

This picture arrived in June 2001 to update us on Abdoulie Gibba, the child our Church School sponsors through the Christian Children's Fund. Abdoulie is the person in the front row with the green shirt.

On the back of the card it says, "Abdoulie and family under their mangoes tree".

In earlier correspondence we learned that Abdoulie's father has a horse and a pair of bullock to help him with his farm work. It is likely it is that horse which is part of this "Family Picture".

With the picture came this bright holiday card. Inside was written, "I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" in advance.

As described in our Church School brochure, "Each Sunday in each class, an offering is collected from the children to support Abdoulie. $1 per month per child is the suggested contribution. We have made a commitment to Abdoulie through the Christian Children's Fund and promise to maintain our connection through his 18th birthday. On December 10, 2001, Abdulie will be eight years old. Efforts will be made throughout the year to correspond with Abdoulie and to learn more about life in his country, as well as ways in which we can help."
