Buckner Coe - 1982

Don Daily recalled during our 75th Anniversary Celebration:

Interim Pastor Buckner Coe prodded and challenged us and prepared us for Edmond Cotty's Search Committee to call Phil Washburn in 1983.

In his 1982 Annual Report, Coe said:

This congregation is unparalled in my experience for the energy and intelligence of its laity, the diversity of its interests and programs, the excellence and devotion of its staff, and the demand and opportunities which it places upon and before its professional ministerial leadership. It has called forth from me everything I have ever learned in the thirty-five years since I was ordained in the First Congregational Church of Oak Park, Illinois, as well as everything I absorbed from a heritage of ordained ministers in my family that goes back five or six generations.
