Periodically we offer informal gatherings to learn "whatever you'd like to learn" about the Scarsdale Congregational Church. Often referred to as an "Inquirer's Session," the gatherings are usually held at the manse or in the Boynton Room of our Parish House.

Any question is fair game. Some have included:

• What is this thing called the United Church of Christ (UCC), the denomination of which we are a part?
• What is the history of the Scarsdale Congregational Church?
• What are the practices of our fellowship?
• What are the policies of our fellowship?
• What are the programs that might be of interest to me, to my family, to my friends?
• What does it mean to "join" the Scarsdale Congregational Church?

Many of these questions are addressed in this web site, but visiting this site is no substitute for the face-to-face opportunity to talk with our clergy and with others in our congregation. And the refreshments at an Inquirer's Session are always a treat in themselves.

Persons may seek only a "slight clarification", or they may have major issues for resolution. In these informal sessions it seems easier to discuss:

• Do you have the same sacraments as the faith in which I was raised?
• My spouse and I were raised in different faiths? Are there families in this church with similar backgrounds?
• Do you accept persons raised as Catholics? Do you accept Jews?
• I had no religious experience as a young person. Is that OK?
• Are there opportunities for our children to learn about....? (you fill in the blank)
• Is it OK to....? (you fill in the blank)
• Where the statues, or the stained glass windows, or the stations of the cross, or ????
• Is the Congregational Church like the Baptist or the Methodist or the Unitarian or the Church of Christ or the Episcopal or the Christian or the... church?
• What are the dues for joining this church?
