Scarsdale Congregational Church Arthur Lawrence, Interim Organist/Choir Director

A graduate of Davidson College, Florida State University, the University of Michigan, and Stanford University, Arthur Lawrence was formerly organist and choirmaster of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) and a member of the doctoral faculty at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He was also Associate Editor of “The American Organist,” after being Editor and Publisher of “The Diapason” in Chicago. He began his position at S.C.C. in January 2007. .
Dr. Lawrence has also taught at Indiana University at South Bend, the University of Notre Dame, and St. Mary's College. He holds the A.A.G.O. and Ch.M. degrees from the American Guild of Organists, as well as the Certificate of Merit from the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. During the 1992-93 and 2004-05 years, he lived in Paris, France, where he studied, did research, and served as an assisting organist at The American Church. Among his forthcoming organ recitals will be appearances at New York’s Interchurch Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue.
