The Scarsdale
Congregation Church has always been a church which looks
outward to the many communities of which it is a part. For example,
after World
War I, when the congregation needed a sanctuary and assembly hall, it
voted
to proceed first with the construction of the assembly hall - mindful
that
the Village of Scarsdale lacked adequate facilities for civic and
community
activities. Our involvement in our communities ranges from support for local groups such as the Scouts, SHORE (Sheltering the Homeless is Our Responsibility), and FIRST; to national/international causes such as One Great Hour of Sharing and our Church School Adopt-a-Child Program through the Christian Children's Fund. Through clothing sales, garage sales, the Family Fair, and the auction, our church makes quality items available to the community - many priced at less than $1. Participants in our fellowship annualy devote thousands of hours to community service, sometimes through church-sponsored activities, often through individual initiative. This website will feature community service and activities of interest to our fellowship. Please contact the webmasters with your ideas for this site. |
