In the lower level of the sanctuary, we offer live closed-circuit TV of the service for parents of infants who choose to be with their children in this setting. Child care for newborns through age two is available upon request.
Every child is on a spiritual journey, a journey that can be greatly enriched by the care and guidance of others. We in the Scarsdale Congregational Church School hope to provide ways for each child to know the stories of Jesus, to feel close to God, to acquire the tools for articulating that feeling, and to learn how to live in this world as a person of faith. Shown in the picture are some of our sixth graders getting ready to help first graders understand what it means to be baptized.
We invite children of Church School age to attend the first portion of Sunday worship which leads up to our special "Time with Children". Given by one of the ministers, this time is set aside to provide an experience of education and worship with the entire faith community. The "Time With Children" concludes with the Lord's Prayer, after which the children are dismissed with their teachers to their classrooms. We provide a class for each grade level. Each class is staffed by volunteer teachers, like yourself, who believe that supporting the education of our children is one way to serve and contribute to this community.
The Church School curriculum is bible-based and designed to creatively present the stories of our faith. Our goal is to help children understand and experience what it means to live as a Christian in today's world. Additionally, we invite and encourage students to participate in our wider church activities so they can experience the full life of the community.
Church school classes start in September and conclude in June. We believe Church can be a positive experience for children of all ages! If there is some way in which we can better serve you, or if you are interested in offering your time and talent to the Church School, please click here.
