Children and families lost no time in using their new Resource Library in the Parish House. With cheerful yellow paint, blue-patterned rug, and bright wicker furniture, the Library welcomed its first visitors on Sunday, September 12, 1999.
Every week the Library serves our fellowship, allowing families and persons of all ages to use its resources in comfortable surroundings.
Thanks first to the vision of your Education Committee, then to the creativity and skill of Geoff Parker and later to your generous gifts to the Easter 2000 Offering, a computer and Biblical software are now part of the Library's resources.
Your Education Committee determined that Biblical software could be a valuable resource to Church School students and teachers as well as to the entire congregation. But, alas, there were no computer resources to support this idea.
Enter Geoff Parker whose skill and can-do attitude transformed a computer donated to the Family Fair into a Windows 98 machine, complete with HP Color DeskJet printer. Said Elizabeth Junod, "We couldn't have done it without him."
A portion of your gifts to the Easter 2000 Offering financed Biblical software.
And if you have skill and a can-do attitude to teach others how to use this computer, please contact Elizabeth by phone at 914-723-2111 or by e-mail at ejunod@mindspring.com.
Education Chair Kay Miles and Minister of Christian Education Elizabeth Junod spearheaded the renovation and decorating of "The Blinn Room", located just to the left as you enter the Parish House. They were assisted by donations from the Blinn family and other contributors in the fellowship. Jane Cammarata and Nancy Washburn assisted with the interior decoration.
Persons of all ages are urged to use the Library. Already there are extensive resources which will continue to grow in such categories as:
Kay Miles commented that the room has the feeling of Provence, France. Younger visitors didn't comment on the French influence but quickly picked up the books and games, finding the chairs and rug to be "just right".
