"The purpose of this organization shall be to
enlist and unite the women
of the parish in the fellowship of worship, education, service, and
giving
and to support the program of the Scarsdale Congregational Church as it
serves the cause of Christ in the community and throughout the world."
Closing out the 1999-2000 Guild Year, members voted unanimously
to fund a beautiful
garden in front of the Church Office Building celebrating
Lolly Worden's eleven years chairing the clothing sale.
Luncheon programs (generally the second Tuesday) are at the center of
this
fellowship.
Guild members manage the Saturday clothing sales, are key to
the
success of the All-Church Fair and Garage Sale, and give generously to
all aspects
of church life. Dates and program details are in News
and Calendar .
Benevolent giving in the Guild's 1999-2000 budget included the basic
support for the
United Church of Christ, the scholarship fund of the White Plains YWCA,
AmeriCares,
A Different Start in Yonkers, My Sister's Place in Yonkers and
Mamaroneck,
Northern Westchester Shelter for Women and Children, OPUS (Organization
of People
Undaunted by Stroke), Mental Health Association of Westchester, St.
Bernard's Center for Learning, YWCA Awakenings, College Careers
Scholarship Fund, shipping expenses for
clothing for Haitian children, and the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
The Guild is affiliated with the Women's Fellowship of the Metropolitan
Association of the NY Conference of the United Church of Christ and the
