Scarsdale Congregational ChurchUse of FacilitiesOur Governance |
Our buildings and facilities are vital to the life of the Church and are a major service to the community. Our commitment to this community service dates to just after World War I when the congregation decided to build an assembly hall which could be used by the full community before it started a sanctuary building.
These rules and regulations seek to assure the facilities meet the needs of current users as well as preserve these facilities for future generations.
Those seeking further information may contact the Church Office by phone at 914-723-2111, by fax at 914-723-3684, by e-mail, by mail or in person at:
"The Scarsdale Congregational Church (SCC) recognizes that it is mutually beneficial to permit use of church facilities for appropriate community purposes. Since the Church is maintained by its members and friends for the worship of God, Christian education, outreach and church family life, nonchurch use of the facilities must not interfere with the most effective use of the facilities for congregational activities.
"It is the policy of the SCC that church buildings, when not in use for church purposes, may be used for philanthropic, charitable, religious, educational, civic and other worthwhile purposes.
"In addition...buildings and rooms therein and the church grounds and equipment may be used for non-profit, social, civic, recreational meetings and entertainments and other uses pertaining to the welfare of the community, whether admission fees are chaarged or not, as long as the uses are consistent with the church's purposes, with affirmative action and non-discrimination guidelines.
The General Board of the SCC, or its designated authority, reserves the right to
revoke any permission given for the use of church facilities at any time. No
approval may be given for a period longer than one year."
