Along with most Protestant churches, we recognize and celebrate two sacraments:  Baptism and Holy Communion.  "Sacrament" comes from the Latin sacramentum (sign or pledge) and is understood as "a visible and outward sign of an inward and spiritual grace."  In our understanding and celebration of the sacraments, we are guided by the ecumenical consensus contained in the 1982 document Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry produced by the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches.
