Welcome to our services of worship at The Scarsdale Congregational Church!  We hold that vital and inspiring worship is central to our church's life.  All of our other activities - educational programs, social events, ministries of outreach and service - derive from our identity as a community of God's people, gathered to worship and give thanks to God and pray for the world.  In music, word, and sacraments, we lift our voices and our lives in God's presence each week.  The following statement from our United Church of Christ Book of Worship expresses this understanding:

"The church is called in every generation to celebrate the full message of salvation in the context of the particular time and place given it by God.  'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever,' (Hebrews 13:20-21) but the language, customs, and historical situation of the people of God are constantly changing...the intention of the United Church of Christ is to respond faithfully to God's saving initiative in ways that speak to the spiritual hunger of all people in this time and place." (p.7)
