The Bridge Fund

The mission of The Bridge Fund is to prevent homelessness for vulnerable, working poor individuals and families who are threatened with the loss of their housing, but often do not qualify for emergency government assistance. In 2014, The Bridge Fund’s Westchester and New York City programs provided $1.3 million to pay rental arrears that threatened clients’ housing, and secured an additional $730,000 from partner agencies and $796,000 from clients themselves to resolve their housing crises. Averaging $2,778 per client household assisted, The Bridge Fund is a cost-effective, humane, and enduring solution compared to housing a family in a public shelter (averaging $38,000 annually), with 88-90% of clients still in their homes two years after receiving assistance from The Bridge Fund.
