Music Director, Sandro Russo, brings his experience as a concert pianist and organist to the musical life of Scarsdale Congregational Church, enriching worship through a diverse repertoire shaped by a strong sense of poetry, style, and musical expression.
Born in Italy, Mr. Russo holds performance degrees with honors from the V. Bellini Conservatory and the Royal College of Music in London. He has received top honors in numerous competitions and has performed as a soloist at distinguished venues in the United States and Europe. As an organist, he has given recitals at St. Ouen Abbey in Rouen, France; the Mother Church in Boston; Princeton University Chapel; Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco; and the Church of the Epiphany and Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., among others. His Princeton recitals were broadcast live by WWFM.
In 2019, Mr. Russo inaugurated at Scarsdale Congregational Church a unique piano/organ double-bill featuring Franz Liszt’s two Weimar masterpieces—the Piano Sonata in B minor and the Fantasy on Ad nos, ad salutarem undam. The project was subsequently presented at venues across the country and has since expanded to include other major works for piano and organ.
